Finally.....

I am beginning to think about the season change........and in doing so I dove into my Flora and Fauna paper pack from K&Company this past week and designed a much different album than I usually do. Full of spring pastel colors with a hint of vintage and distressing....this mini made me really think about the upcoming spring flowers....the birds and the color the season always brings. The papers were wonderful to design with and all the embellies that went along with the paper were interesting to use. I glossy accented much....fancy cut a bunch.....and gathered all together to complete this mini.... my video is on my YouTube channel at Yorkieyodaldog for a complete view of the finished album....thanks for stopping by....and think Spring!

Finally.....my tutorial on my Christmas Coffee Table Mini album is done!

It's large enough to hold sooooo many photo's and holiday memorabilia.... including 8X10's...(with just a bit of trimming) and 5X7's. The binding method is FABULOUS and it won't scratch your surfaces with rings and swivel binding. It measures 9.75"X8" and has 14 pages including the front and back covers.

New Happy Holdiays Christmas Mini Class (bound book)

Here it is....whew! Finally finished and ready for the holidays.
This will be my next class at M&H Saturday November 12th at 9a.m. till ???? let's just say 2 p.m. to be safe. (wink)
It's a "12 inside page" 9.5" X 8.0" mini book, completely bound so its THICK but lays wonderfully flat. I wanted to construct a mini that would be suitable to be call a "coffee-table" mini...so you could have it out for the season and would be free of rings and spiral binding. It has tons of room for photo's, journaling , keepsakes from your season and interactive pages! It's got "bling-a bling-bling" and a few surprises!
The colors are deep and rich tones and screams for your favorite photos for the upcoming Christmas season. Once you have constructed this book, you'll be making more for every occassion. I LOVE how this mini book is bound. IT'S FABULOUS darling! LOL

You can never have enough of them....they lift you up....add laughter and warmth to your life....giggle with you...care for you and add such great enjoyment to your being. So on this past Wednesday...I got to share a lunch with some of mine. There were giggles and laughter and warmth shared. One can never have to many....one should never be without them in their life. I am blessed and privileged to have many in mine and feel their warmth around me always. No matter the distance nor time....they have been there in my life. On a journey far to many times traveled within my 5 years away from "home" (Boise)....they have all offered me such warmth and such blessings in my life. Whether left from my place of starting.....to my place of destination or in between....or those I hardly see...to those I sweep the net waves with...may I always give you the warmth that you give me....the joys of my life shared....with great friends. I am so blessed by each and every one of you to be able to call you...."My Friend"

These are three new "fallish" stamps that I picked up yesterday at M&H from Dawn (208-785-0770) I LOVED them...they are wood mounted and so deeply etched and easy to use. Made making these three cards a snap! Easy smeezy!!

This was a big project to finish in a limited time....and nearly everyone got that accomplished! Hooray for you all!!!
The antics were fabulous. the distressing was picked up so well by everyone.....and I met some totally cool and wonderful ladies...so I am so tickled that everyone had such a great time. It is always a pleasure to have great attitudes when teaching new techniques to students that are not afraid to try something different....you all did so well!
Thank you Dawn and Heidi for being so gracious and assisting everyone. Indeed this class was a pleasure! I love having a shop owner in class!

I think next time I cut 36 kits for ANY project....someone needs to SHOOT me and maybe give me a swift knock on the noggin....I have been cutting, cutting, cutting, cutting and doing MORE cutting...LOL What was I thinking????? But I am SOOOOO excited that they are all done and waiting for class times....I am thrilled to be teaching this Travel Journal so you can put all the photos from your favorite vacation, family reunion, or that best place in the whole world photos into something that will bring you much enjoyment. This is going to be a FUN class starting on Staurday my sweet little students....so bring your smiles and enthusiasm and LOTS of adhesives...LOL...and we'll have FUN FUN FUN!!!!

Aqua blues and creamy white sands.....

was the inspiration for these card. My beloved nephew and his family are vacationing in Cancun this week and when photo's arrive they are spattered with such relaxing, soothing tones of the ocean and sands they inspired me to make some cards from the same tones. Heres just three of them that will be the next card class of eight different designs. We'll make them out of the colors of the Caribbean Sea and the shaded white sand beaches adding a butterfly or two...:o) Four will have pull out tags on the front and all will have dimentionals with finishing sentiments on the inside as well. This will be the last "summer" designs card class this year....we'll be on to the deep, rich tones of fall next....so sign up soon through my email or call me. This morning I opened up my mail to find this from my students.... thinking I have never ever heard this before...well I have news for you my little Munchkins...I have! Many, many times....I only wish she and I were related....:o) Billie Burke was 53 when she made The Wizard of Oz....and lived until 1970. I am honored... be there any resembalence to such a fine woman encased in the hearts of children and adults throughout their entire lives....:o)

I had so many people email me about my last Travel Journal that I have decided to do a class at M&H Office Supply in Blackfoot on the Saturday the 27th of August from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Theres a great little scrap booking shoppe inside.)
We'll distress...layer...do some"sniggle stickles"..and learn some new and creative techniques and have FUN doing it....you'll walk away from this class with a fully created project...ready for your journaling and photos galore....and some "sneaky fun things to surprise you."

TRAVEL JOURNAL MINI.....

Now all we have to do is take a trip!
I did this travel journal over the past couple weeks....working on it here and there and decided everytime I thought it was finished....to "add" a few more pockets and tags.(Most likely I'll be adding a few more...LOL)
I love the results and the size of it. It's 12X6 and has only 5 pages but I designed it with pockets galor and did photo mats ready to use when I complete it. There are 3 large pockets and closures for those "left over" photos and abundant spots with tags for journaling of times well shared and remembered. I left the cover plain and no fibers or ribbons as I actually want to take this with me on our next trip. But I did all the embellies, metal, flowers, gears and "additives" a head so they will all be ready to add when I add my photos. I used various papers including Graphic 45, Pinecone Press, Paper Studio and a few more thrown into the mix. I did stamping every where with Technique Tuesday, 7Gypsies and a bunch of favorites! The colors are terrific when mixed all together and without a doubt I think I can get at least 100 photos into this mini.....maybe even more! So maybe it's not "such a mini" after all....I can't wait to fill it up! I will be posting a video on my Youtube Channel.....Yorkieyodaldog....so stay tuned for that....thanks for viewing my blog today....have a beautiful one!

all over....these little tags are ready for mail and going off to Canada in a swap that was hosted by Katherine. I LOVED doing them as they were fairly easy and sooooooooo much fun! Besides my projects always contain "black and white" somethings...LOL....it was fun to do something layered....the chairs have 3 layerings....blinged up the little chandelier...and stamped the "chair pads" and taglets! So they are all ready to go with some "goodies" attached...
I'll be doing a "chair" card class with different varieties of chairs...and also I bigga give-a-way for those susbscribers to my blog soon! So stay tuned creative ones!

This is the very good friend my daughter just lost to cancer. He is 24 and an outstanding young man....he loves my daughter as a sister and they had great years together.....so when I came across this stamp...I found it only fitting to add the image of two dear and beloved friends....:o)

Everytime I teach a card class I always have people tell me that they have all the embellishments to go with a paper line but they never end up using them. Recently I had my several of my students ask me if I would ever consider teaching a class using just such things....and could I make it a "frilly-pastels and flowers class." Well here it is ladies....K&Company's Susan Winget Botanical paper, the Grand Adhesions Demensional Stickers, The Acetate Die-cuts and the 3-D die cut Botanical Flowers. This is not the color scheme I would usually choose but thought this might be "frilly" enough...:o) Fun, pretty summer colors and I mixed them all up with stamps, distressing and TONS of stickles for some good bling! There is only ONE paper that is not in the line...everything else is out of the same paper line...can you believe it!...LOL...(I had to use one other paper...I was having "altered withdrawls")...LOL... They are simple but layered. Class is this Saturday....yeppers in TWO days and I have room for 12 so let me asap if you would like to attend..:o) (Sorry ladies this class is full)They are on my YouTube channel at Yorkieyodaldog....Thanks all!

a very fun swap on the "Beach"....nice and easy and simple....LOVED IT....just what I needed...and the results were great! We were to use DCWV paper Tradewinds and were make 5 "post cards"....did some new techniques on these and loved the little "hands" on the compass...:o) Was so much fun....Thanks Kim for hosting such a great swap....really enjoyed it! Prince William is getting married today right?
It's nearly May.
My tulips are about 3 inches high.
My migraine finally left me yesterday.
And my hubby is feeling better after a round of food poisoning...and no it was not from me!...LOL
And then I woke up this morning.
And I promise not to crawl back into bed and totally hide all day under the covers...LOL But really.....I am soooooo tired of clicking my ruby slippers together and saying...."There's no place like Boise"......"Theres no place like Boise".....LOL

I LOVE dress forms.....and these cards definitely remind me of how much.
These are four individual cards that work well from only 5 papers and just a few stamps. They are "vintage" with a "hint" of blue and carry on that vintage distress look I so enjoy.....they were easy and very simple to do. Lots of layering and I used Tim's new small rosette die....love the look...enjoyed making them.
This class will be limited seating of 12. If you would like to take it please let me know asap....and we'll sign you up and have fun. Everything in the class is supplied....but as always...if you want to bring some creative embellies and stamps of your own...that would be great!

Metal butterfly wall sculpture

So....wandering through TJ's one day with the "blonde child" (aka my daughter) we came across this metal wall sculpture of all these butterflies. Now, mind you, the original photo of it, will not upload but it was shiny heated metal and sort of gold and bronze in color.....I remarked to the "blonde child" this would make such a way cool wall hanging in my studio if I changed all these butterflies with paper. I could tell by the look on her face when she said..."Ummmm...yes it would" thinking I was a bit crazy and that seemed like a lot of work. NOW...as I go to Boise every month to see my "blonde child" and all my other friends I miss so much since moving 5.5 hours away...I watched these butterflies go from mark down to mark down through the series of about 4 months. THEN...one day strolling the isles by myself....I noticed it was marked way down and decided that it MUST come home with me. (Now having not told my daughter) that I had bought it....I thought it would make a truly great piece of art to hang on "her" wall being that she so loved butterflies when she was just a little one and that I could make it into something that she would enjoy....so I painted it black... and began to cut all the black and white papers I had, as she loves those colors... FORTY sets of wings and tails later
I started to apply them to the painted metal. The results are so what I had hoped for....I stamped, distressed, and embossed the butterflies before I applied them to the sculpture

and without a doubt I think she will enjoy it. I wish I had bought both of them as I would have loved to have done one for myself in "vintage-ness." It was a great fun project to do for someone I love and adore....and I can not wait to give it to her this Tuesday when I am in Boise for her birthday.
Think of something in a "different light" grab it up and make something to make you smile or as I did....that beautiful smile I love so much and miss so much....even brighter..:o) Happy Birthday my sweet child...and for all the "flutterings and wings"...I hope this reminds you of your imagination and all the "wings" you painted, caught and sung to when you were little...with your beautiful smile...:o)

The "Beauty of it.....

is something one needs to always remember....
I love someone deeply that has made a hard decision in their life.
Change happens around us all the time....it is how we "except" that change that makes us the people that we are. If we sit stagnated and patterned all our lives....we never have the courage to do anything....we never "gather" anything new around us....nor do we find anything new "gathering" around ourselves. We all have "visions" that hold tightly into our minds and hearts....and although we find ourselves not always living those "visions" ...they are always somewhere...floating amidst our dreams and expectations....the vision of what we ultimately want.
Courage, respect for ourselves, warmth and love.... gather those visions when you need them the most. They will allow you to look "forward" and will grant you the strength to change what you want for "your" life....some have it...others do not. Sometimes it is thrust upon you when you least expect it....and you have to have courage but you learn from that and become much stronger than you once thought you were. It allows you to change and stands beside you to make those changes. You can't "borrow" it from anyone....you have to be able to do it for yourself.

Non-Traditional Christmas Album

This has been quite the undertaking. I made this album for a dear, sweet friend and decided that " I " would come out of my box and make it bigger than I have done before. It's a 9" X 10" paper bag mini that has tons of room for photos and journaling. I wanted non-traditional colors so the entire album is done in blues and browns, golds and coppers. (I snuck in a teeny tiny bit of green and red.)Its filled to the brim with tags, dies, charms and embellies and I am just hoping she will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed creating it. We agreed not to exchange anything for Christmas around the season as we were both so busy....we thought "after" Christmas would be just as fun. Sooooo two months later...here it is. Finished (well almost) and ready to mail off to her. I'll do a vid sometime this weekend....so keep checking my Youtube (Yorkieyodaldog) and hopefully with my new camera and editing, I'll get it on there this weekend...Thanks for stopping by...:o)

It reminds me of how time passes quickly when you think about it....it sweeps by you at the speed of light....and suddenly...the things that mattered the most in your youth...have slipped out of your being, disappeared...and life is what it is now....If we could only look into the future within our youth and know that life is all about "temporary things"...and times....and that what really counts is where you end up....how happy you find yourself...how content you are with your life and those around you....you have to "put in your time" to reach those goals...but boy are they worth your time to get there....:o)
I have been designing an album for a "Beach buddy"....its a paper bag album that has been quite challenging I have to admit. A "larger" one than I had anticipated...but I am beginning to really have fun with it. Should have a "sneak peak" here this weekend.....:o)

How cool is that....we have reached another one.....one more under our belts.... my daughter is still in college....my hubby and I are healthy, happy and doing great!!!! and this year I will be moving "home"....closer to friends, my beautiful daughter's smile, and that what makes me smile and happy.
So I am hoping that everyone finds peace of mind and being....within this new year.....take a breath....believe in your own path and do everything you can to acheive your goals....no matter the size or quantity....you can acheive what you set your heart and mind to.....just remember to do it with a smile and the best of your abilities and efforts....and all else will fall into place.....:o)

was the BEST!!! My daughter asked us to spend the day with her celebrating an early Christmas. We had such a good time with she and Chris. Even Bentley and Pidggy had a good time and Bentley found out that even though Brindon is the "vet" person we board him with, she was A.O.K. when it came to "snuggling"...:o) The guys prepared and I got to play Donkey Kong with my daughter bringing back a ton of memories from our days together when she was just a little one with all those locks of hair and great big warm hugs, sitting on my lap giggling and laughing. I was blessed this year at the creativity of my beautiful daughter's imaginative ways of putting together a gift I absolutely LOVED. A dress form done with the imagination of a true altered-steampunker queen! I loved it and everything else...but MOST of ALL...I loved the time with her and my hubby. She means the world to me and I remember so well all those moments that have lead to this one. You could not have given me a better Christmas than that of your time, warm hugs and that beautiful smile, giggles and laughter....:o) I love you "BD"...it is endless......:o)

Let's all face it...having your "twins" pressed between a "vice" yearly isn't the most pleasant thing to do...but every year in November I am reminded about how blessed I am to have healthy breasts. It's not like I look forward to it, but it is in someways a "privilege" that we all have the knowledge and technology to keep us safe and fit and to detect anything that might be "out of the norm" in our tissues....so my dear friends, those I haven't yet met but "feel" through the net waves and those that I share laughter and life with, PLEASE get your yearly Mammograms done and know that you are doing everything you can to help the experts detect and keep us all healthy, knowing it is up to us to take care of our own bodies. Awareness....self exams....yearly mamo's.....it's all up to us to educate and make everyone around us safe and free of breast cancer.
So in honor of Susan G. Koman and her sister Nancy G. Brinker, I altered this bra in hopes that when one sees this here on my blog...they will remember to have their own mamo done this year and that they will remind all others that they care about and know...to have theirs as well....:o) Be healthy my friends...

Paper bag Mini Swap!!!!!
We can NEVER have enough of them.....:o)
Lets make it a "FRIENDS" theme...as I have met soooo many great ones at the BEACH....:o)
Great response to the last months swap.....so I'm doing another one!!!!!!
This one will be a "vintage/steampunk" (that should have your little minds wheeling)...LOL paper bag album. So lets dress them up, steampunk them up, fiber them up, pocket them up and do some fun and inventive things with them. A little bit of "out of your box" should apply here and we'll see GREAT results!!!!! Steffanie at the Beach did an awesomely, wonderful mini using the Graphic45's new line that they have out so think "gears-wheels-oddities and wacky stuff"...but then come back down to earth and think... "vintage and antiquities"...doesn't have to be anything that you wouldn't LOVE getting yourself....just some "quips and quoes" and some "unusual things"....to make your mini OUTSTANDING for your partner. Remember to use what you have, I LOVE mini's for that....to keep your expense down. This is an imaginative album that will RAWK your partner. Remember to create something that you would oooh and awe over if you were to receive it in the mail. So here's the "scoop"

1. Use 5 paper bags (I get mine at Micheal's for 2.99 for 12 of them in the "wrapping and bow section"... they are the ones that measure 4.5/8x2.7/8x8.5/8's by CELEBRATE IT. (Don't forget ANY STORES coupons...they take them all) Sounds complicated but they are the "standard" ones that they carry. If you can't get these come as close as you can to the size. Remember when assembly is going on, there are "pockets" to be found in these....:o) AlSO.....think about using your chip board tags, velum, acrylic tags....they just don't have to be paper bags....think about adding a page or two with the vellum or acrylic...chip board shapes.......think hard! The can have many pages, just remember to use 5 paper bags...:o)
2. You'll need to "add cover's" to them. I use cut up boxes. They are sturdy and make wonderful covers. I extend mine an inch or two past the paper bags in width. Truly guys they make GREAT covers. Paint them, add paper to them...distress them..whatever you little heart desires. BUT...use anything that you like for the covers...mine is just a suggestion!
3. Add whatever you would like. Junque them up and make them fabulous as I know you can. It's a bit of a challenge but then again...it's you coming "out of your box" a bit and you will be ASTONISHED at what you have created!!!!! Everyone loves ribbons and fibers, flowers and euphemra. Look into your magazines for some idea's/images...free clipart, stamps, old photo's, make it unusually different than you have before. ( Theres the "Steampunk" coming through) Bling it up, stick pin it up, DISTRESS it up, add pockets and tags....just imagine what you can do???? And at very little cost to us all using things that you have had for a while or just gotten...makes no difference...just DO IT!
4. Make sure that your album is "bound" so that your partner gets LOTS of good use out of it and it will last a LONG time. I bound my last coin mini with 2 of those rings everyone has. I have taken mine that Belinda made me to work and have shown students and friends. THEY LOVE IT!!!! They ooohed and awed over it and I could just see the little "light bulbs" coming on.
5. DEADLINE!!!! I can not tell you how PLEASED and THRILLED I was that everyone got their albums out on time. Deadlines are so important and I soooooo with all my heart, appreciate all of you getting them out on time. Thank you all so very much from the last swap. It meant a great deal to EVERYONE to receive them on time and so much easier for the whole group. So if you "committ" to this swap...please carry through with the DEADLINE. And if you can't make it...that's okay...we'll do something fun next month...:o)
6. Let's be brave....imaginative and have FUN doing this. Recycle, no stress, and again use things you have. Your imagination is in your own "being"....your all awesomely talented...lets go "beyond" the norm and create something really fun and special. But most of all....have fun!!!!!!

was captured today as my hubby and I took a nice little drive and came upon this canal....someone had planted poppies and foxglove and blue bachelor button all over the banks....I thought it was such a lovely scene I just had to stop and take a photo or two...:o) Whomever planted this...thank you for such a beautiful view.....I loved the little stone stairs.....:o)
